Wrist tattoo help!?

January 6th, 2009
  • I turn 18 in August, and for about 2 years I've been seriously contemplating getting a tattoo on my left wrist of a sort of key silhouette in black, maybe a bit less than two inches long, very simple, for personal reasons. I already wear bracelets on my left wrist and I figure I can cover it with a watch, long sleeves, bracelets etc if necessary.

But I have a few questions for people who are tattoo artists or have wrist tattoos!

    1. Realistically, how bad is the pain? I understand joints are painful, but how bad?
    2. Does it stretch much on your wrist?
    3. How much will it cost approximately?
    4. Does anyone have a wrist tattoo they regret?

    Any help is great!

    Cheers

  • It can't be as bad as getting it done on your breast with indian ink and a sewing needle.

  • 1. the pain is nothing on your wrists i have 3 on mine and they were the least painful of the 6 i have.
    2. not sure bout stretching as such. mine twists out of shape a bit when i twist my arm.
    3. cost depends on where you go. Most tattooists have a minimum price of like 15-20pounds and if it is small and not too detailed it will prob come under the minimum.
    4. like i said i have 3 wrist tattoos and dont regret any of them.

I think tattoos reflect a certain personality and if you want this tattoo you should get it

  • To answer you:

    1. The pain is comparable to rubbing sandpaper on the skin (irritating but not really painful)

    2. It won't "stretch" but they do have a tendency to fade due to them being in a very harsh area.

    3. Based on what you're saying, between 40-80 dollars (u.s.)

    4. A lot of people i know regret their wrist tattoos because in the professional world you still need to keep your tattoos covered. Something to think about....
